| In the beginning, there was the Q, and he was good. He created an RP for original characters on the new forum features for a certain original fiction website. There were no real rules for entering, other than the need to make an intro thread, and all of the given rules were common sense for ease of play, and it was good. All those that entered read the rules and played characters they felt the need to develop, all interesting with several dynamics played against each other. It was fun, and fast-paced, and exciting.
Then real life happened to many of the original players... Some, like the creator, dropped off the radar completely. Others had to go at the game at a slower pace between posts, and the main thread, where new people entered, lay dormant. The older players, lamenting the state of things put in a couple of new characters, hoping to revive what had once been and encourage new people to join. And it worked, at least somewhat. A new group of players joined the fold, all fairly decent writers and RPers, and much fun was had by all.
But... then came another lull, and a new breed of player joined... game-breakers. Taking advantage of the relaxed rules, the new breed began entering millions of modern, cracky characters into a medieval tavern. They replaced the well-established NPC bar man with a new PC, and generally ran around the whole establishment like ants, adding things there was no reason for as they had already been established, and filling one area with tons of characters played by the same person so that anyone that entered could have no choice but play with the shallow, one-trick characters. It was the death of any interesting character development, at least in the main thread, and the last straw for me. I stopped playing there, and kept to my long-established side quests that had been going for quite some time with some of the older players.
However, some of my friends continued attempting to play in the main thread, long past my point of patience with what it had become. Tonight, however, was the last straw with the last one. She has officially stated that it has gone to hell. With the entrance of a fandom character from Okami, a catgirl who drinks "soki", people who show ooc knowledge and give ooc advice ic, and all the rest of it, I am inclined to agree.
Rest in peace, dear tavern. We knew ye well. - Mood:calm

| Success! A PS3 bundle from Best Buy was obtained. Two in fact lol. I didn't want to make my parents deal with the crowds at an ungodly hour so I went to pick it up myself (also, so you don't think we're rich and can just toss around PS3s this is my bday and only Christmas present lol)
I couldn't sleep so got up at 5:30 and went to the Best Buy down the street. there were alot of people in the small store but not as many at the register though enough people were certainly carting out large TVs! Stupid Best Buy, they had -plenty- of PS3s XD; I'm glad the workers weren't looking too haggard, infact one I was talking to said it was alright really. Like a busy day, rather than freaking insane. I was looking at PS3 controllers too and one mentioned how they were price matching Radio Shack's sale on it even though I had no idea. So nice of him! So got a 2nd controller for half off. I checked the store prices for Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank to see how much I was really saving with the bundle, and it turns out to be more like $50. But $50 is still $50! Can't wait to tell Justin I'll have a PS3 for Christmas, I've been using to Ratchet and Clank to draw him more into video games >.> <.<
Apparently my parents couldn't sleep either, so went to a different Best Buy and got one too XD; I feel bad, they spent at least 20 minutes in line whereas I didn't spend any time at all, either times.
Was planning on going back to bed, but I was pretty awake so went to Walmart looking for bedsheets. I got there around 6:30 and they were already sold out. Bummer, so got some picture frames instead. I can actually have photos of my loved ones around the home now and frame some gift art I've gotten lol. Planning on covering one wall of my office with lovely gifts from people :3
Hit the mall afterwards but didn't really see much. Bought a sweater and two cute skirts but that's it. Got more sparkly gel pens from JoAnn's at 50% off. Can't wait to use them on gifts and such X3 Yay more gel pens!
Got my hair permed straight and trimmed. Yeesh I needed a trim so bad! It's a subtle change but with the naturalizer too, my hair is looking and feeling alot nicer X3 Yay for having a hairdresser mom.
Went over to the home we're having the craftshow at tomorrow to help make signs and decorate. Yeesh, posterboard really absorbs sharpies! We decimated a good bunch before we went and got the super big fist sized sharpies. Still feel extremely anxious about tomorrow. It can SO easily be a HUGE flop. I really really hope it does happen the way I think it will -.-;;
Thanksgiving day was really nice. Finished up some commission work and have that carted off, so yay I get paid! Then headed home to my parent's place and chatted with them about their trip to Taiwan and Japan, which they just got back from. Was so good to see them <3
Then over to the neighbors' for dinner! We had 4 families total and we all know each other quite well and I utterly love everyone's company. We had fried turkey pieces, like fried chicken, to try something new! Was interestig though I still prefer the more traditional oven baking. The drumsticks were all undercooked but small pieces were quite tasty! Though I'm mad at my appetite. I was starving constantly all week, then not so much yesterday. Pretty standard fare otherwise, though we had this really interesting nutty cranberry sauce. So tasty and unusual X3 Mmm.. pumpkin cheesecake.. Everything was soooo good.
I played a bit of Call of Duty, which was fun but I always suck at shooter games, then we watched the football game. I'm not too into football but it turned out to be a really good game!.. if you're rooting for the Broncos, which we were :D;
I'm so tired lol, I haven't gotten a full night's sleep all week and yet I'm still up and raiding tonight XD;; Need to be up early tomorrow for set up.. then up way way early Sunday for soup kitchen stuff.
Wish me luck with tomorrow!!

| Whew... I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Ours went well. :) So did Black Friday shopping, even though our alarm did not go off on time. :( Rushed out the door and got half the stuff on our list so our shopping's pretty much done. We were operating on the: If it's there, we get it, if not, it wasn't meant to be shopping guideline. Only things I have left is to get gifts for relatives. It was extremely busy out and I didn't see a single Zhu Zhu hamster. :D I had heard about them only yesterday so was completely clueless and had actually forgotten about them until about an hour ago when I saw a yahoo story on 'the hot toy'. I considered for a moment, I wonder if Kim would like that... AFTER the craziness is over. I did a search on Amazon and wow.. Zhu Zhu Pets / Hamsters go for $65 + ! :D That's just crazy! For a moment, I thought that was actually how much they are... then did a search on Toys R Us and saw a more logical $10 price tag. :D Yeah, closer to what I expected. I thought they'd run more along the $12.99 to $15 mark. Cute.. but not worth the effort to acquire one when we don't even have a lot of hard wood flooring. Of course... if I DO see one in a store, I'm likely to snatch it up now and put it under the tree for Kim over ebay. If you enjoy the comics the number one thing you can do is direct other people to the sites (If you need linking images of a certain size or for a certain comic, just ask.. it'll get me to actually MAKE them...). :) Or consider donating to support them/ get the ad free viewing account. I also have a huge mountain of email to go through! Still. Happy Thanksgiving ! And good luck to the Black Friday shoppers :D (Apparently we will be out as well going after some $10 blu rays: UP and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and Supernatural. Notably ... we will not be rushing out early, but waiting until later in the day which likely means we'll come away with only Supernatural and Underworld. :D (My prediction on the matter.) I was tempted by the $150 netbook at Office Max... really tempted, but lack of a $150 and no desire to fight with people got rid of that. Want a netbook, but I'm going to wait until I can get it preloaded with Office 2010 this summer. Leaning toward an Asus now, I hear they tend to be more sturdy, but I also want one with an SSD over the standard hd. Drat.. I just realized I didn't even see if I could find myself a new internal terrabyte drive for the desktop ... it's still pushing full. :( Visit the store for merchandise! Currently up are prints, tote bags and notebooks! And we DID see Planet 51. :D Kim loved it and it wasn't that bad of a movie. It was 'expected' and likely one we'll get on dvd when it comes out. Movie I'd like to see with husband: The Men Who Stare at Goats. I'm .. not all that enthusiastic about The Princess and the Frog. On one hand, I was thrilled to see a 2D movie, but the trailers keep turning me off and on ... but I want to support the 2D movie. I am intrigued by Avatar, although it has some serious (in my eyes) flaws - I think it deserves to be seen in 3D until I hear otherwise. ;) For visuals alone. I think our Christmas movie will be Sherlock Holmes and likely Alvin and the Chipmunks for Kim. Really light Christmas season it seems for movies. Of course.. then you look at January. :D I'm a bit confused why Hoodwinked Too! was not put out in December along with Tooth Fairy - which does look funny despite how silly it is. | |

| My birthday was just yesterday. I've turned 26. I got the original Star-Wars Trilogy on DVD, an X-Men Origins: Wolverine game for the PS2, and Transformers 2 on DVD. Nana and Aunt Lanette both came down for Thanksgiving, so it was nice having them around for my birthday. They were going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Live tonight, though I wasn't included. Mom says that she thought I was going to be working when she bought the tickets, though frankly I'm kind of miffed that she just assumed that I wouldn't have been able to go. I'm also jealous since learning that Jeff Scott-Soto is touring with the Orchestra this year. He's apparently lent his vocals to some tracks on their new album "Night Castle". Grandma and Aunt Lanette got me a copy of the album for my birthday though, so that's cool. Today I did a ton of Black Friday Shopping. My initial plan for a computer upgrade ballooned out of control, much like I was fearing it would. I settled on getting an NVIDIA GeForce 9xxx video card, which required a power supply of at least 350 watts, when my current supply is only 300. So then I purchased a 400 watt supply, and an anti-static wrist strap so that I can install the components without worry. After that, I went out and bought Fallout 3 for the PC in anticipation of my pending upgrades, and I also ordered "Crystal Empires" by Freedom Call and an 80's Metal Tribute to Journey. When I got back home, I found out that my DVD drive won't read Fallout 3 at all. If you will remember, I had been having problems with it reading video DVD's for a while now. RW DVD's and most games I usually don't have a problem with, though Fallout 3 clocks in at a whopping 5 GB, so the DVD is probably in a non-standard format. I ended up going back to Newegg and purchasing an uber cheap basic DVD optical drive, choosing the cheapest one that had the best user reviews. I'm hoping that it will fit in my HP Pavilion. If not, it's likely I might have to send it back in exchange for an external drive. Things are quiet now with the folks gone to the concert. I had a nice Thanksgiving and Birthday holiday, and now that the Christmas season is here, my spending is essentially done with (except when it comes to gifts for others!). I already know what I'm going to get the family for Christmas this year. I'm just going to wait until December before I start making those orders though. ---------------- Now playing: Foreigner - Waiting for a Girl like Youvia FoxyTunes Five sets of Star-Wars Facebook status updates. Hilarious! According to the British diplomat to America, the United States was "hell bent" on starting a war in Iraq. Seems the rumors that even before 2003, the administration was steering in that direction might be true. Four states have adopted a "no smiles" policy when it comes to making driver's licenses. They say that it helps deter fraud, but I think it is an example of frivolous policy. | |

| You, new person, already jumped on the band-wagon to bother me the second you saw me on the game with 'OMG WE SHOULD HAVE A RELATIONSHIP AND HISTORY TOGETHER!', because you are a fangirl of my character.
I politely decline because I don't know you, and your grammar failure is not winning me over.
You politely accept. I think its done with, but then you turn around and ask me to write the app for you.
So, lets recap: You get a canon character, fangirl over mine and ask to be in a relationship/have history with mine (not needed per canon). I decline, then you ask me to write part of your application for you because you don't know the character you're apping.
This is very much fangirl fail.

| Am I the only person who thinks it's totally inappropriate IC action for someone's character to take another character who has come to them asking about magic lessons, grab them, put them on their lap and start stroking their cheek? Please tell me I'm not. Please.
EDIT: The person doing this is the same one from my last post, with a new character. I just...every single thing they do has this creepy sort of "Get in my car and sit on my lap, little girl, I have candy!" vibe. - Mood:scared

| I'm pretty sure Billy has lightning powers. If he had lightening powers, he would possess the ability to make things weigh less (or possibly become less dark).
Also, it's Dumbledore, not Dumbledoor. The clue would have been in the username, and in the way it was spelt correctly in the opening post and in every comment in reply to yours.

| Hello, you lovely, lovely, ranting people. God, it's been good to go through logs here and see people suffer and bitch and moan about the same sort of stuff that gets me down. So you're ever-so-lucky to have me regale you with my own whining. Go you. I'd sock this, but the circumstances are too particular so they'd likely be recognised regardless. If I'm caught... fuckit. Might be funny. Thus, without further ado... ( The Ballad of Princess Butthurt )(tl;dr: Don't get butthurt OOC for IC conflict. And don't be a GM who protects his girlfriend from said conflict) | |

| Just a quick update to let everyone know I am working through the list of volunteers. I am trying to get a feel for each person by reading their journal. However, the majority are friends-locked. So, those of you who volunteered, could you please temporarily add me as a friend?
I promise I am discreet and do not have the time to read every entry you've ever made. I just need to be able to read more than "This journal is friends-only".
Also, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S.! And Happy Thursday to everyone else!

| Happy Thankgiving/Turkey Day/Nap Day everyone!
Tell me, what's the one food you'd go totally nuts if it was missing from the table? The food you can't have this holiday without? :D
Me hm.. I'd say the turkey. My family usually goes to another family's home for T-day, we of course bring dishes and drinks but we don't do the turkey for it. So we cook our own XD; I really really love turkey neck.
Anyone going to attempt Black Friday? This is pretty much the big day of the year that I buy clothes and home items XD; I usually go mid-morning or afternoon, like 9-10 ish, but this year I'm attempting Best Buy at 7 am for a PS3 bundle ._. Not going crazy, but earlier..

| I know this has been asked several times before by different people, but now I am starting to ask myself the same thing. "How long is too long to wait for an art trade?" I do not want to name the other person just yet because I would really much rather hear what people have to say, given the situation. This is what has been going on:
Some time at the end of August, I made a journal on FA asking if anyone wanted to do a badge trade. I specifically said that they must be willing and able to mail me their half. I agreed to trade with someone who commented on my journal. I finished her badge and posted it. She approved it, so I laminated it and mailed it out to her at the end of August (around the 25th, roughly). She verified that she received it.
Now here's the confusing part. A little over a month went by and I heard nothing. I sent her a note asking what was going on. She responded a day later (October 8th), saying that "the address was wrong, it got returned in the mail and damaged," then continued to say she has bills and car insurance to pay off.
I've got a few red flags going up as a result. 1. If you had completed the first one, why didn't you show it to me first before attempting to mail it out? I would have liked to approve of it and make sure it didn't need alterations. (If ANYTHING, it would at least prove that you legitimately did your half.) 2. I have never, ever had someone get a returned letter from the post office for my address. Either this is an extremely bad fluke, she wrote the address wrong, or she is a liar and never sent it. (The badge would be sent within the US. This is nothing international.)
So it is approaching 4 months and I haven't seen so much as a sketch from her (whether she did the "first one" or not). That one note was the only note that I ever sent her. I am NOT one to harass people daily, weekly, or even monthly. Maybe she needs a reminder, but I don't know. I understand that life happens and that bills and other things DO get in the way.. But I feel like this is getting a bit too ridiculous for me. It's just a badge!
With that said.. Should I release her name and advise others not to trade with her? Or do I sit on it for another few months and just hope she decides to send it? It's possible that she just needs a firm reminder, but I don't know.
Thank you for reading this. I know it got a bit long winded, but I wanted to try to make the situation as clear as I could. Thanks again. :) -Obsidian

| Some years ago(2005),I commissioned a certian furry artist to draw a pick of my character Cindy.I recieved the image via jpg. file, but never the original. At the time,I thought that it was either lost in the mail or this commission was for an image file.I do recall sending the artist an email about it back then, but never got a reply.Well, a few days ago,I was looking though Furbuy and I came upon this: http://www.furbuy.com/auctions/1013018.html I sent the artist an email a day or so ago asking them to either cancel the auction and send me the pick(to which I would pay s/h) or if that were not possible,do draw another pick of Cindy in a simmiar pose for a price that would be negotiated. To date I have recieved no reply. This leaves me frustrated.Should I place a bid on a pick that I already paid for long ago? or just let the whole thing drop and chaulk it up to my own stupidity for not having checked back with this artist over the years.I just don't know what to do here. Note: since I wrote this,at the advice of a friend I have contacted Furbuy administrators to ask to have the auction pulled until I can work this out between the artist and myself.I am awaitng their response or a reply from the artist in question. Edit : Since this post was made,I have come to a resolution with the artist in question.I will be getting my art for a price that was negotiated fairly between us.Thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions concerning this matter. It is now closed as far as I am concerned. | |

| You're lovely and all, one of the nicest people I've met through roleplaying, but it kind of amazes me how right after I sort of made it clear that my character wouldn't be into something long term with your character or anyone else for that matter, you've stopped replying to our thread, but have been replying non-stop to the thread with the character yours is supposed to hook up with. I get you wanting a romantic relationship for your kid (even though it seems like it's the ONLY thing you want for any of your characters, but to each his own I suppose), but come on. It's just kind of douchey to simply stop replying to what's not important for that plot, isn't it? At least tell me you're not feeling the scene anymore, I'd be okay with that. But not even that much? It's a bit shit. | |

| Seriously, I don't mind playing second fiddle to another person's hero story. Honestly, I don't. Sometimes it's fun just to be a sidekick and to see where another person is going.
But if you're going to do that, you at least need to make room for those sidekicks in your story. It can't be all The Baddest Badass Ever show, it has to be The Baddest Badass Ever and Friends. And even that gets tiring after awhile. Although in your case, it's more that you keep rambling about these elaborate plans you have and how it's going to be the best storyline ever only for things to be rather... predictable and boring.
Similarly, please learn to take a joke OOC. We all make snide comments about each other's characters, because it's a funny way to highlight their weaknesses. Your badass dude isn't the greatest at social situations - c'mon, his Charisma is, what, 3? - so of course we're going to joke about him being not-so-charming. One joke is not cause to flip out, especially when we are clearly joking about the character. An hour-long bout of peevishness and obvious grudginess today because you "took it personally" because your characters are "part of yourself" is not called for.
And seriously? All of our characters are, what, level 2? I realize that play-by-post and game mechanics don't mesh too well, but we already agreed (since this is a Fallout-based game) that no characters are Vault Dweller badasses who can just come in and tear shit up. We're all Wastelanders, which means that sure, our characters might get powerful, but that'll be at level 20, not at level 2. I can swallow unrealistic shit like ~*yellow eyes*~ which make your character ~*so mysterious*~ (because hey, I'm not exactly playing the most realistic character ever with my lolferalchild guy - the fact that he can even somewhat participate in society is totally unrealistic)... but come on, the level system's there for a reason.
P.S. To another person: if you want to hear whispered conversations from 2 rooms away perfectly clearly, perhaps consider not having a Perception stat of 2.

| Look. It's very well and good that you have some grasp on psychology. That's grand. It's a useful subject. But your character cannot.
Why? Well, in the setting, in the country he was born in, no one has the slightest clue what it is. Insanity is put down to things like possession, clones, duplicates, impostors, mind-control poisons, and that sort of thing. Considering as all of these things actually do happen in this setting, our medics understandably haven't bothered with developing it too much since it works out to be a physical cause anyway. And because they have no concept of it.
None. At all.
So your character, he is not going to wander off to another country and run back with notepapers exclaiming that he found the secret of insanity and establish the branch entirely on his own for several reasons.
1) It would require a great deal of proof, for starters, for anyone born and raised in your character's country to even accept that there could be medical causes, since medicine is physical damage as far as they're concerned. 2) He would have to actually care enough to ask about something he already thinks he knows. 3) He would have to be able to care and figure out enough to explain the concept to his countrymen. Who also wouldn't be too willing to listen, or care, because again, they think they know already.
Now I'm not saying it can't happen eventually (that's what we have medical research potential for, after all), just for the love of god, don't come back with Psych 101 in a book overnight. And if you do, expect them to call your character nuts.

| Well, maybe not, but it sure feels like it! Thanksgiving is proving to be a recurring theme this year. I've gone to the Thanksgiving party for the cleaning company employees, got leftovers from the 1st shift party at the warehouse, got invited to the second shift party at the warehouse, and we have yet to have Thanksgiving at home! I don't know if Walgreens will be doing anything for the holiday, but I don't think they are, aside from giving us the day before off. We still work on Thanksgiving though. I've been plugging along, so far so good. I have definitely gotten hired by Walgreens, so now it's just a waiting game. Need to be there for 40 days before I can look into transferring to full time, and then I can drop my other job entirely. Though I've got loads of trepidation about it, I've decided just to wait until then rather than taking action now. I've heard through my Mom that there isn't any way they can cut back my hours at the warehouse (Of course, she could just be lying to influence my decision, but I don't think she is in this case). So, I'll take things one day at a time here. I acquired the Overlord series of computer games recently and found that my computer cannot run them. So I've decided that now would be a good time to perform my first upgrade, focusing around my video card (though I may need to get a new power supply too, if my current one cannot handle whichever one I end up getting). I've already got a good idea of what I need to get. I've also been weighing whether or not I should get back into playing WoW. I would kind of like to now that I have the money for it. On the other hand, working two jobs, I won't have the time to do dedicated raids or run instances during the week. Also there's the fact that many people who play WoW are jerks, so I can't count on getting much help there if I start up again. City of Heroes might be the better choice, though Champions is out now. I don't know enough about how much they differ, though I suspect they're really both pretty much the same. We'll see. I wrote a review for the original Friday the 13th. It blew all of my expectations right out of the water. I don't know where I came up with my version of the events, but Friday the 13th did something completely different. ---------------- Now playing: Martina McBride - Wild Angelsvia FoxyTunes When Google hires someone, they like to throw curveballs. These interview questions are so far outside the box, they'll make you feel stupid. What better way to save money than to use coupons? Here's a few ideas on how to get some free ones for a modicum of effort. Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Renzor raised enough money to pay for a man's heart transplant surgery a while back, selling a signed copy of the rare N-I-N cd "Still" and a signed Tony Hawk skateboard, and by mobilizing his 500k plus Twitter followers. | |

| ( Dear prospective players )(tl;dr: Please: (1) Acknowledge the plot even if you don't try to advance it, (2) have your characters to something (anything!) and (3) interact with each other.)You accommodating hopeful GM and friend. | |

| You. Yes, you, the dickhead in the dressing room.
Yes, I get that this isn't a formal game, and that it's pretty much free range. I also get that your character is a sadistic bastard who's in the mood to drain and/or kill whoever he comes across. I gave you free range to do whatever you wanted to my character except kill him. You seemed fine with that.
So why the hell did I go to reply to our thread and find that you'd deleted the entire thing?! And not the entire post, just our thread. If you were getting bored, you could have told me or even just dropped the thing. But that was my writing you deleted too, which pushes you straight into dickhead status.
